Lisa Olivia Munn grew up in Oklahoma City. Kimberly Schmid lived in Vietnam having Chinese ancestry while Winston Barrett Munn's family has origins deep within the American South. Her parents divorced when she was only two years old. The mother of Olivia raised her along with her stepfather, who is a United States Air Force officer. Although the family was spread across the country, her primary place of residence is Tokyo, Japan. In this period, Olivia participated in various local theater productions. In later years, she became a Japanese model. Olivia moved into Los Angeles when her family had came back home to her home in the United States to follow her ambition to become an actor. After a few small parts, her career took an extremely promising direction after she secured the part in the role of Mily Acuna in the Hawaii-focused television series Beyond the Break (2006) and the role of Rob Schneider's receptionist Big Stan (2007). She is the host of G4's podcasts "The Daily Nut" as well as "Formula D". The sport of surfing is a passion for her as she has practiced it since the TV series Beyond the Break (2006). The black belt she holds is taekwondo. In the year 2000, when she turned two years of age, her mother was married again. Although the family moved a frequently, her mother took her to Tokyo where she lived with the military. The University of Oklahoma is where she pursued her journalism studies, along with minors in Japanese, drama and dramatic arts.
